I have checked Windows Task Manager during this time and do not see any excessive CPU usage by any application, including Thunderbird. Thunderbird will often hang, as described above

Then I click on the Inbox in Mail Acct 2 in the Left pane the Sent folder in Mail Acct 1 is selected.
